Goals & Path To Realization

(First Published in 2016, Still Relevant)

By the grace of the Holy Spirit, I have been able to share twice on Goals. Much more importantly we give Him all the praise for the testimonies that have trailed those posts.

Today, I would like to share with you how to take your goals from conception stage to realization, an area where many dreams remain just that – dreams. I encourage you to be diligent in taking these steps, and stay with the process. As it works for me, I am sure it would work for you too.

Action Point 1. Write Down Your Goals & Keep Them In Your Face!

Write down the vision, make it plain upon the table, that he who sees them may run with them, says Scrupture. So, maybe most of us do in fact write them down. Then what? Haha! Caught you there! You are not alone if you just dump the goals in the note book, waiting for another time; or you know it’s there but .. yes, I will look them up again – someday!

I counsel that you put your goals where they can ‘confront’ you DAILY; where they can’t be ignored. This will ensure you constantly, consciously or otherwise think about them. And I am sure you have heard it said that when you constantly obsess about something, it eventually consumes you.

Choose a location best suited for you. Mine are my mobile gadgets – phone, tablet and laptop – my mobile offices! I have synchronized my calendar and Reminders with my goals, that they ‘annoyingly’ pop up at regular intervals. This drives me ‘nuts’ at times but they do work!

This way, they become my dominant thoughts; and I have no choice but to constantly work at them until realization.

Action Point 2. Allocate 30 Minutes/Day To Your Goals.

Spend at least 30 minutes every day on your goals – working on them, making plans, making adjustments where necessary.

Everybody claims to be busy, right? So, where will the 30 minutes come from? Let me show you where.

No matter how tight your schedule may be, research shows that there are activities you carry out which, for lack of better word, I will call “unproductive” (forgive me if that offends you😜). Examples – chatting, watching TV (gotcha!!!), even travel time on buses, taxis, trains (if you’re that lucky) etc. So, if you cut out 10 minutes out of any 3 of such activity, you have your 30 minutes, don’t you?

Now that you can get the 30 minutes, what do you do with them? Think about the goal(s). Ask yourself questions such as – “what do I need to do to get this show on the road?”; “what kind of resources would I need?”; “what options do I have to raise these resources?” “what kind of skill set/knowledge/expertise do I need to deploy?” “How do I acquire the required skill set/knowledge/expertise” etc.

If you do this diligently, you will suddenly realize that to achieve any goal is really not difficult. Once you set out the parameters, once they stare you in the face regularly, suddenly your mind begins the process of REFRAMING, tossing the idea around to see other perspectives. This brings illumination, trust me.

What you spend 30 minutes a day to focus on will sooner rather than later become so crystal clear to your mind that it no longer seem daunting. Let me give you an illustration of this –

If your goal is to lose weight (ouch! Sorry), spending 30 minutes on a treadmill or swimming might not appear to be much. But what do you think will happen if you do this everyday for 30 days? Point made? Okay! Thanks.

However, if you still cannot find 30 minutes of your valuable time to set aside for a goal, then maybe that goal isn’t a valuable one to start with. So, remove it from your list and stop wasting mental energy thinking about it.

Action Point 3. Ascertain Why You Need To Reach A Goal.

David the shepherd boy did not just rush into battle with Goliath. Oh no. He made enquiries as to the reward for victory before he plunged into battle! See, at times you need a burning desire to meet targets. This burning desire is what would keep you going when you inevitably come across obstacles, low points and frustrations.

So, you need to ask yourself what I call the “why” questions. “Why do I want a new steam of income?”; “Why am I setting fitness goals?”; “why, why, why?”

Once you get a clear answer, you must now remind yourself constantly your “why”. This will not only recharge your batteries but also fuel a burning desire in you; and I am sure you know that

a burning desire will always get an outlet.

Action Point 4. Get Supportive Help.

You have to surround yourself with people who are going in he same direction with you, or those who already reached the destination you’re headed for. It may be a mentor, an accountability partner or someone you can agree with concerning your goals. Someone who will complement you, encourage you and if need be put the boot to your rear end to get a move on already!

This might not necessarily be someone you know very well, or even a friend. You have to be proactive in seeking such people out; so long as you get the help you need.

Action Point 5. Set Yourself A Time-line For Achievement Of Set Goals.

Time is the most important resource available to man simply because every man, regardless of status has access to just 24 hours per day. And also because once lost, you cannot redeem it. So, you need to wisely utilize the limited time available.

To achieve this, I counsel that you set schedules to achieve each goal. This offers you pressure to keep working on realizing your goals, thereby help to sharpen your focus. Once you are able to set a realistic time-line you suddenly would need no promoting to focus on only those things that will enhance your realization of the goals. This will help you discipline your flesh (remember I mentioned this in 2016, Goals & Your Role. Please get this if you have not read it.)

On this action point I need to sound a note of caution. Do not be w slave to your own scheduling and time-line. Remember, the sabbath was made for man, not the her way round. If you chose your Supportive Help wisely, s/he should be able to help you deal with scheduling issues that I have no time to discuss here.

Action Point 6. Incentivize Yourself.

Human beings love to be appreciated, to be celebrated. It is said that the best way to get a smile on a person’s face is to reward him. So, set yourself rewards for achieving set goals within time. Nothing motivates like a reward, well earned.

It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, particularly if you’re still trying to build a business or profession. But it has to be enjoyable enough to make you want more. For me, I splurge on books when I hit a milestone. For you, it may be another motivation! But reward yourself!

2018 SHM WEEKLY TITBIT. Week 19. PROTECT YOUR VISION.

(First Published in February 2017)

That you have a God given vision does not get you to your promised land. Between the time of the vision taking hold and manifestation, you have a gulf.

And trust me, that is where most people miss it. Why?

Because your vision is from He who is VISION Himself does not protect it from the antics of the enemy of your soul. In fact, if my experience (and those of many great folk!) is anything to go by, that is when he will attack your mind the most. Same with Abraham, same with John the Baptist, same with the Lord Jesus Christ!

So what to do in the journey to your manifestation? Guard your vision jealously. Do not allow your current situation derail you. How?

(1) Always affirm your identity in God. You need to constantly remind and reassure yourself of who you truly are, regardless of what you currently face. For example keep saying this to yourself, REPEATEDLY, “I am not a failure. I am a success waiting to manifest”; “I know the thoughts my God has towards me, thoughts of good not of evil, to bring me to my expected end”

(2) Remain cheerful, remain joyous. Create an environment of praise. God will be there with you, because He dwells in the praise of His people, Israel! Something about praise that many miss is this: the enemy of your soul has so lost his own, that he cannot abide you praising God in adversity! So, he flees.

(3) Keep working on new ideas, keep trying new things. Do not remain static. Remember that Thomas Edison tested more than 3000 designs over a period of three (3) years before he got the prototype for the first commercially practical light bulb correctly. He kept working at the idea until he got it right.

I know you are a promise waiting to manifest. So, I say with confidence that you shall excel In Jesus’ mighty name.

We love you!

I want to assure you that we love you! Really.

2017 SHM Weekly Wisdom Titbit_Week 1_Imagination.

Week 1. IMAGINATION.
Imagination is its own form of courage. God Himself admitted that can do anything you envision possible! To lack imagination therefore, is to be without concrete hope for success.

Dream dreams, dream them big.

Imagine yourself getting that job; achieving that goal, that objective.

Place yourself in that role in your mind.

Let the picture of it be seared in your consciousness.

That was exactly how God recreated the world as we know it! Stop cheating yourself, IMAGINE! Those who call you crazy now will be the first to celebrate you!
You shall excel In Jesus’ mighty name. We love you!

2016, GOALS & YOUR ROLE

Based on reactions to my last post on 2016, Goals & Imagination, I have decided to do a follow up with this title. Many got in touch with us to know why many set goals do not end in result despite engaging their imaginative powers. Some claim this has lead to frustration; while some have given up. I trust that we should be able to address this issue here with the help of our eternal teacher, the Holy Spirit.
First, let me say this straight away – I am a praying person. Those who know me personally know that I love to pray, and by His grace my life is a testament to the efficacy of God’s manifest assistance through prayers; and I remain eternally grateful for this.
I need to say this because of my MAIN POINT in this piece, which is :- God will not do for man what He has enabled man to do for himself! And this is where most who set goals miss it. Yes, prayers are efficacious, but to succeed (the ultimate function of set goals), you (not God) has more roles to play! Am I saying you should not pray over your goals? No! Am I saying you should not remind God that you have goals set, and need His help? No!! So what exactly am I saying?
Change the manner of your prayers already! As a vessel, I see many prayers that will not be answered by the Almighty, even if He wanted to! For example, when a person prays for God to ‘make me a millionaire’, frustration will soon set it because that is not God’s job to put physical cash in any man’s pocket! In fact, currency is alien to God’s principles! (Topic for another day, maybe)
The correct prayer should have been for God to ‘open my mind to unique ideas for prosperity’! Reference Jacob in Laban’s employment. Show me where God ‘made him a rich man by depositing cash in his pocket’ as many pray today, and I will keep quiet. Rather, what happened? God gave Jacob a unique idea to get stripped and spotted cattle! That is the pattern through out scripture.
Next, spend more time working on your goal(s)! It saddens me today that many religious organizations (both Christian and Moslem) encourage adherents to spend more time in places of worship than in working and meditation on their trades, jobs and professions! Or how else do you explain the plethora of religious services on work days and periods when people should be at work! And a times, several times during one day!
Do you know what this does? It encourages people to lie and cheat; and no one who does both succeeds in a lasting manner, or gets the help of the Almighty God! See, what excuse other than lies would an employee give to his/her employer for their absence from work during working hours at the same time EVERY WEEK, other than to lie? And that is cheating the employer of time that would be paid for! Yet such people want the help of the Almighty who abhors liars? I don’t see it happening! Another thing you need to see my friends on this point, is that the pastor or imam who calls such prayer meetings during working hours is at his/her own job, while you are not!!!! Time that should be spent in creative contemplation is spent in often raucous gatherings! What imaginative thought could be done there? Beat me o.
Third, you need to conquer your self – every flesh is prone to indiscipline. Trust me, been there, done that! Switch off that gadget, and spend time in contemplation! There is a reason why the biggest earners are the thinkers not the person of brawn! Thinkers put others to work! It is the way of the Almighty. Read the story of recreation again, how much physical effort did the Almighty God exert? Go through the amazing work of the Lord Jesus Christ, how much physical lifting did He do to calm the storm, to feed over 5000 people with 5 loaves and 2 pieces of fish? Even to raise Lazarus, He ordered others to do the physical rolling away of the tomb stone! My dear friend, learn to think – and this requires disciplining your flesh. Switch off that TV set, and pick up a book. Ignore that WIFI and your smart gadgets, just sit down in meditation! Do you have to attend that party – again? Must you go out – again? These are things the flesh luxuriate in. You have to win that battle friend.
In concluding this piece, you will notice that I have avoided mentioning the steps mentioned in my previous post on “2016, Goals & Imagination”, so please go back to them that piece.
For help please contact us at salvationhouse@gmail.com or +2348098445165. It has come to my knowledge that some may be unable to reach the mobile number. Please leave a text message and we would get right back to you. We promise!

SHM PRAYER WEEK_November 2015 (Season of Laughter)_Day 4

🎵Jesus, the son of God; I believe in you, I believe in you./3🎵
Prayer Points:
10. My father, because you reign supreme, anything that has become comatose in my life, revive them today – my business, my relationships; every lost opportunity restore fully unto me Lord because of your mercy.
11. Without vision the people perish. Lord, open my inner eyes to see the glorious things you’ve arranged for my future. I receive the character traits to mine these to the fullest. My dreams will not die IJMN.
12. All around me, let it rain, Father let it rain! Abundant rain, fall upon me, my family, my friends! Make me a channel of blessing for many more Lord!
Dear friends, as you wait with us and pray along this week, the Father of all lights in whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning will put laughter in your hearts and lives. You shall excel. We love you!

SHM REFLECTIONS_Picture Your Way To Breakthrough!!!

Dear friends, have you heard it said that God hears every language? Have you taken time to ask yourself how come He does that easily? Well let me tell you.

The creator of the heavens and earth think in pictures, not words. That was how He recreated the world – He thought His way through. Genesis chapters 1 – 2. And that is how He will choose those to live with Him in eternity, by looking at man’s heart (replace with ‘thoughts/pictures’) . How is this relevant to our discuss?

As a human being because you are created in His image and after His likeness (meaning you are wired as He is), that is how He also ‘hears’ you – by the pictures in your heart! That is how He answers prayers! By what is in your heart. Listen, you get the material equivalent of your thought pattern. Scripture already confirms this – Proverbs 23:7a – you become what you think. Let us consider other passages of Scripture.

Matthew 5:28; Mark 11:23; 2 Corinthians 9:7. What do you discover? Mere thinking of adultery is in God’s eyes as bad as the act itself; a picture of a dissolved problem IN YOUR HEART will make that problem disappear! Acceptable offerings begin with the picture in your heart of the reason for giving! Getting the picture?

God hears all languages and therefore you by the quality of what is in your heart. He judges the heart not the face He warned prophet Samuel. So, IT IS THE PICTURE IN YOUR HEART WHEN YOU PRAY THAT GOD SEES, not the words you utter. Again, remember #Jesus Christ warned against vain repetitions in prayers!

I remember I have shared this formula with you before – PICTURE + EFFORT = RESULT. So, to get what you need per time train your mind to think in pictures, that is get grace for the power to conceive ideas. Once done, dear friend you begin to see breakthroughs where there had hitherto been roadblocks.

You will excel IJMN. We love you! #SHM
