2018 SHM WISDOM TITBITS. Week 3. HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SET ASIDE FOR THINKING?

SHM_LEXCONSULTS_Thinking, 1
To say we live in a fast-paced world is to state the obvious. We indeed live in a ‘microwave’ era, where not only do we live on the fast lane, but we curiously want solutions and results in a way food is made hot in a microwave. Sorry, but a past-paced lifestyle and effective, long lasting results are mutually exclusive!

Why?

For the same reason it takes about 9 months for a foetus to become a human child! For the same reason it takes a newborn baby time to talk intelligibly, walk, and develop other motor competences to last a life time!

So, in this era when we are constantly pressured to be on the move, we need to carve creative time for ourselves. At least for those who want to be in the top 10% of their professions or business endeavours – just to THINK. The quality of your thinking time would determine how far you can see and go in life or any thing you venture! I am yet to see any short-cut to this.

If you master the art of deep thoughts, you will discover that: (1) you will not be easily tossed around by the doctrine of men,
(2) your output into any thing you venture will become better refined. Often, the first ideas are not the best ones. It takes devoted thoughts to refine them,
(3) your earning power will increase by the reason that well thought out solutions attract better value.

So, be smart, live a life of deep thinking!

You shall excel In Jesus’ mighty name. We love you!

2017 SHM WISDOM TITBIT_WEEK 36

WEEK 36. HIS LAWS, OUR BENEFIT.

Another wonderful week my friends. Is this truly the 36th week of this year already? Wow! Shouldn’t we thank The Lord for preserving our lives thus far? Lord, we praise you!

This week let us encourage ourselves on an issue many would rather not discuss, or merely gloss over. Has to do with God’s laws.

What He wants is crystal clear – to love Him with the totality of who we are; and then to love the next person as we so ourselves. Not hard, right? So, why is there still so much pain and wickedness in the world?

One simple reason this has been hard and will continue to be so for many people is this thing called ‘free will’.

God designed every human being to have it. Free will is the ability to act at your own discretion without any constraint! It is interesting, (but a story for another day) why God chose to give every human that capacity; but for our task this week, it is enough to understand why many find it so hard to obey His laws.

Whatever you think you have a discretion about, you tend to do in a way that pleases only you! Reason why many would plan for a people in a way that benefits just a few of the planners! But if we examine this more critically, we would realize that discretion improperly exercised can really become a trap. How?

Because what you do, thinking is all about you; is really more about others, many more than you! Because our actions have reverberative effect on those around us, to just on us. Yes, because we are social creatures! So, how we exercise our discretion will always after others! Lesson to learn is this: exercise your free will more about others than yourself!

Another aspect of His laws, is that God does not really need them those laws. Trust me. He has existed for eons without man and if He so chooses can still do so for eternity. So, why give mankind laws? Well, as my topic suggests – FOR OUR OWN BENEFITS.

Take another look at His laws in broad form, what some may call the 10 commandments. You will discover that an in depth study of them will show that all ten (which are really the two I started with) are for man’s own good!

So, in truth, obeying His commandments are for my benefit and yours! Seen from this angle, we should begin to realize that we must work on our minds (the workshop for all things good and evil) to compel our bodies to obey His commandments – at all times!

Would it be easy? You bet NOT! That is why each must work out his salvation with fear, with trembling.

Have a great week dear friends. You shall excel In Jesus’ mighty name.

We love you!

SHM REFLECTIONS_What Gain Is There?

My dear friends, I hope this new year has been good to you so far? It has been for me! I pray that this year will be your best year yet IJMN. Amen.

Today, I charge you to reflect on why we take certain decisions and engage in certain acts that may hurt others but still leaves a sour after taste in our mouths.

Look again at the story of the execution of John the Baptist in Mark chapter 6:16-28. I mean, what would Herodias possibly do with the head she got on a charger? Yes, she got her revenge on the Baptist’s audacity to tell her God’s truth, but WHAT GAIN IS THERE FOR HER after that?

The death of John DOES NOT MAKE HER SIN LESS OF A SIN, neither does it MAKE HER INCESTUOUS RELATIONSHIP WITH HER BROTHER-IN-LAW RIGHT.

You see, dear friends, many find themselves in this very same position. Many if us hold on to slights, bear grudges, take actions over what we consider appropriate response to ‘infractions’ against us, only to go away with a sour taste STILL.

Today, I often wonder, for example, how putting capital offense convicts to death would assuage the emotional, and a times physical pain of relatives of murdered victims? Yet in some parts of the world THAT IS THE REVENGE the state promotes, any sadly many people of faith supports it! It surely cannot repair the loss suffered by the victim’s family! In fact research has shown it creates fresh emotional wounds in them!

So, as you relax and enjoy this weekend, reflect with me on this if you would – WHAT GAIN IS THERE IN KEEPING A GRUDGE? IN STRATEGIZING TO SETTLE A SCORE? WOULD IT
NOT BE BETTER FOR OUR LONG TERM GOOD HEALTH TO LET GO? I believe it would!!!

Have a wonderful weekend, and God bless you! We love you. Shalom.
