2017 SHM WEEKLY WISDOM TITBIT – Week 38. COMBATIVENESS

Hello again dear friends, how has our week been? Mine has been glorious, thank God!

This week, laid on my heart to share and encourage us with is combativeness. This noun shows a state of being ready to argue or fight, ultimately leading to being characterized as being pugnacious! Not a nice way to describe anybody, yes? But the reality is that once in a while like that we just feel like ‘sticking it to the other person, do we not?

Now, my own experience is that after my combative encounter I often feel that maybe I came on too strongly? 🙈 So, been there, done that! Ok, so this piece is not about being judgmental.

How do we think people we have ban combative with feel, during and after each encounter? This should sharpen our understanding of the real problem of being combative. If we reckon such people feel happy and left the conversation feeling better, then being combative would be a good thing; but that never happens, does it? Often than not those on the receiving end would leave unhappy and wonder what just hit them!

Now, if we accept that every human being is an extension of God, then our manner of discuss amongst ourselves, in public and privately should take on a civil tone and manner , shouldn’t it. And we should also understand the ‘manner’ part of what I just said above. Some folk have mastered the art of speaking evenly in low tones, but their body language can dice a rock in half!

So, what to do? I believe the book of Hebrews has the perfect recipe – Follow peace with ALL men and holiness, without which no man can see God! When we get on that train, trust me, our combative nature will reduce and gradually diminish. God bless us as we begin to try.

You shall excel In Jesus’ mighty name. We love you!

2017 SHM WISDOM TITBIT_WEEK 36

WEEK 36. HIS LAWS, OUR BENEFIT.

Another wonderful week my friends. Is this truly the 36th week of this year already? Wow! Shouldn’t we thank The Lord for preserving our lives thus far? Lord, we praise you!

This week let us encourage ourselves on an issue many would rather not discuss, or merely gloss over. Has to do with God’s laws.

What He wants is crystal clear – to love Him with the totality of who we are; and then to love the next person as we so ourselves. Not hard, right? So, why is there still so much pain and wickedness in the world?

One simple reason this has been hard and will continue to be so for many people is this thing called ‘free will’.

God designed every human being to have it. Free will is the ability to act at your own discretion without any constraint! It is interesting, (but a story for another day) why God chose to give every human that capacity; but for our task this week, it is enough to understand why many find it so hard to obey His laws.

Whatever you think you have a discretion about, you tend to do in a way that pleases only you! Reason why many would plan for a people in a way that benefits just a few of the planners! But if we examine this more critically, we would realize that discretion improperly exercised can really become a trap. How?

Because what you do, thinking is all about you; is really more about others, many more than you! Because our actions have reverberative effect on those around us, to just on us. Yes, because we are social creatures! So, how we exercise our discretion will always after others! Lesson to learn is this: exercise your free will more about others than yourself!

Another aspect of His laws, is that God does not really need them those laws. Trust me. He has existed for eons without man and if He so chooses can still do so for eternity. So, why give mankind laws? Well, as my topic suggests – FOR OUR OWN BENEFITS.

Take another look at His laws in broad form, what some may call the 10 commandments. You will discover that an in depth study of them will show that all ten (which are really the two I started with) are for man’s own good!

So, in truth, obeying His commandments are for my benefit and yours! Seen from this angle, we should begin to realize that we must work on our minds (the workshop for all things good and evil) to compel our bodies to obey His commandments – at all times!

Would it be easy? You bet NOT! That is why each must work out his salvation with fear, with trembling.

Have a great week dear friends. You shall excel In Jesus’ mighty name.

We love you!

2017 SHM WEEKLY WISDOM TITB _WEEK 2_ENCOURAGE YOUR SPOUSE

Encourage your spouse to flourish. By it you will stand beside a successful, grateful partner. Doing otherwise, for whatever reason, is the epitome of folly. We don’t want that, do we?

Let not simmering resentment rob you of the blessings of seeing your spouse succeed. See, no matter what he or she becomes, no one (not even the spouse) can validly discount your contribution. Even if no gratitude is shown to you, as some fear, you will benefit directly or indirectly. Someone close to your heart will be blessed by the prosperity/success/fulfillment of your spouse.

In any case, it is better, is it not, to sow that good seed and reap the rewards elsewhere? I encourage you today, assist your spouse to be the best he/she can be. You will be fulfilled thereby, trust me!

You shall excel In Jesus’ mighty name. We love you!

SHM BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS _Book 6_Our Iceberg Is Melting: Changing and Succeeding Under Any Conditions by John P. Kotter, Holger Rathgeber, Peter Mueller (Illustrator), Spencer Johnson (Foreword by)

Book Cover_Our Iceberg Is MeltingMy dear friends, it is because change is inevitable that it pleases me to recommend this month’s Book to you. It is a spiritual law that nothing operates in a vacuum, so if change is inevitable, we need to be prepared how to manage the change that will come; especially as not everybody is ready to embrace even change they need!

That is why this book is such a must read! And the plot is simple – most of the denizens of the Antarctic penguin colony sneer at Fred, the quiet but observant scout who detects worrying signs that their home, an iceberg, is melting. Fred must cleverly convince and enlist key players, such as Louis, the head penguin; Alice, the number two bird; the intractable NoNo the weather expert; and a passle of school-age penguins if he is to save the colony.

Their delightfully told journey illuminates in an unforgettable way how to manage the necessary change that surrounds us all. Simple explanatory material following the fable enhances the lasting value of these lessons.

Our Iceberg Is Melting is at once charming, accessible and profound; a treat for virtually any reader.

Health Benefits of Coconut (Botanical name :- Cocos nucifera)

Also called the tree of life, the coconut tree provides a nutritious source of meat, juice, milk, and oil that has fed and nourished populations around the world for generations. On many islands coconut is a staple in the diet and provides the majority of the food eaten. Nearly one third of the world’s population depends on coconut to some degree for their food and their economy. Among these cultures the coconut has a long and respected history. YET MANY OF US DO NOT APPRECIATE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF THIS EASILY GROWN TREE.

(Confession: I have had on in my home for many years now, so please understand my prejudice!)

Coconut is highly nutritious and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals; and it is classified as a “functional food” because it provides many health benefits beyond its nutritional content. Coconut oil is of special interest because it possesses healing properties far beyond that of any other dietary oil and is extensively used in traditional medicine among Asian and Pacific populations (not that we recommend!). In fact, Pacific Islanders consider coconut oil to be the cure for all illness. The coconut palm is so highly valued by them as both a source of food and medicine that it is called “The Tree of Life.” Only recently has modern medical science unlocked the secrets to coconut’s amazing healing powers.

Modern medical science is now confirming the use of coconut in treating many of the above conditions. Published studies in medical journals show that coconut, in one form or another may provide a wide range of health benefits. Some of these are summarized below:

 WHAT ABOUT COCONUT OIL?

(Confession: I do not use coconut oil in my cooking. I prefer extra virgin olive oil. But this takes nothing away from these following scientific facts, please.)

While coconut possesses many health benefits due to its fiber and nutritional content, it’s the oil that makes it a truly remarkable food and medicine. Once mistakenly believed to be unhealthy because of its high saturated fat content, it is now known that the fat in coconut oil is a unique and different from most all other fats and possesses many health giving properties. It is now gaining long overdue recognition as a nutritious health food. WHY IS THIS?

  1. Coconut oil has been described as “the healthiest oil on earth.” That’s quite a remarkable statement. What makes coconut oil so good? What makes it different from all other oils, especially other saturated fats?
  • The difference is in the fat molecule. All fats and oils are composed of molecules called fatty acids. There are two methods of classifying fatty acids. The first is based on saturation. You have saturated fats, monounsaturated fats, and polyunsaturated fats. Another system of classification is based on molecular size or length of the carbon chain within each fatty acid. Fatty acids consist of long chains of carbon atoms with hydrogen atoms attached. In this system you have short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA), and long-chain fatty acids (LCFA). Coconut oil is composed predominately of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA), also known as medium-chain triglycerides (MCT).

  1. The vast majority of fats and oils in our diets, whether they are saturated or unsaturated or come from animals or plants, are composed of long-chain fatty acids (LCFA). Some 98 to 100% of all the fatty acids you consume are LCFA.
  • The size of the fatty acid is extremely important. Why? Because our bodies respond to and metabolize each fatty acid differently depending on its size. So the physiological effects of MCFA in coconut oil are distinctly different from those of LCFA more commonly found in our foods. The saturated fatty acids in coconut oil are predominately medium-chain fatty acids. Both the saturated and unsaturated fat found in meat, milk, eggs, and plants (including most all vegetable oils) are composed of LCFA.

  • MCFA are very different from LCFA. They do not have a negative effect on cholesterol and help to protect against heart disease. MCFA help to lower the risk of both atherosclerosis and heart disease. It is primarily due to the MCFA in coconut oil that makes it so special and so beneficial.

  1. There are only a very few good dietary sources of MCFA. By far the best sources are from coconut and palm kernel oils.

SHM Weekend Tonic_7th September 2012.

Image

My dear friends, I hope your week has been fulfilling and profitable? As you prepare for the weekend, hopefully to rejuvenate and reinvent your minds, I would like to share with you one tip that has helped me, and from which I continue to draw strength, no matter the situation. This is an excerpt of my book “IDEAS: Key To Your Destiny” coming soon to a bookshop near you.

Whatever you do not believe, you will not get! This is a simple but mostly unappreciated spiritual principle. Your active trust in the potential possibility of your thoughts carries creative powers. The Almighty God showed us a classic example of this in the procedure for the recreation of the earth – Genesis 1: 1-27. You will discover that whatever it was that He eventually created, He already thought of or even voiced out before the actual action took place!

So, how then can you believe something so that you can get it? Again, a simple exercise is needed; something we all utilize in our daily lives without many paying conscious attention to it – by VISUALIZATION! Every day, we see objects, watch movies, and listen to musical lyrics that stick in our memories and remain with us for many years. I am sure some of you dear readers can remember in accurate details movies you watched eons ago as if it were yesterday. I know it happens to me. Many of you can sing the lyrics of songs recorded even before you were born. Scientific research has now shown that as human beings, we are able to do this because we have capacity to see those things in our minds eyes. The power of visualization brings back such pictorial encounters, nurtures them, and allows our mind to process them for action. Let me explain this further.

Once you employ the power of visualization, the more you see it, the more the possibility of it happening becomes transmitted to your brain, and the creative powers of your brain will kick in, to birth those ideas you can already see. Constantly seeing a picture of a thing transmutes the reality of it into your subconscious. My friends, when God recreated the earth, he did just the basic, foundational work. However, every human invention since then has been the product of somebody visualizing the possibility of that invention, even before the first draft is sketched. Picture Noah, picture Nimrod, picture Nebuchadnezzar, picture Albert Einstein, picture Alexander Graham Bell, picture Steve Jobs. Now picture yourself.

Every breakthrough that will enhance the quality of your life, provide value to others, and therefore make you wealth is embedded in your mind. You achieve this by putting that mind to work. Put it to work by painting a mental picture and place it before your mind’s eye. You have to believe this, you have to see it. You must accept its possibility. Read 1 Kings 17: 46 again. What David eventually did to Goliath, he already saw a mental picture of it. The same thing in the gospel of Saint John, chapter 11, verses 6 and 11. Jesus already saw the death and resurrection of Lazarus in His mind’s eye before it happened!

So, I encourage you as you rest your brains this weekend, to train yourself to paint a mental picture of what you want to achieve, what breakthroughs or achievements you want to accomplish in your career, in your relationships, in your endeavors. It is a timeless principle of success. That was what the Lord God Almighty taught Abraham in Genesis 15: 5; what the Lord Jesus Christ taught in Mark 11: 23. That was why only Caleb and Joshua made it to the Promised Land – Numbers 13 and 14. What you do not believe, you will not get; and what you cannot visualize you can never trust or accept or believe!

My friends look again at the pictorial attachment to this Tonic. What does it tell you about succeeding and what you have just read? God bless you. You are created to excel and excel you shall IJMN. Have a great weekend! Shalom.

THE JOURNEY SO FAR – 121 DAYS GONE!

Today is the last day in the 4th month of this year. Wow 121 days, 2,904 hours ans 174, 240 seconds would have been gone by the end of today. Yet, you are still here! No matter what you have gone through or going through; the fact that you are alive means you have a hope of a better tomorrow. Ecclesiastes 9 verse 4. Can you therefore join us in turning today into a day of thanksgiving?

Is anybody out there who wants to appreciate the Lord God Omnipotent for sparing his/her life, and those you love? Well, feel free to express your thanks after me – in the form of praise or worship or pictures! Trust me, He will appreciate all.

One thing I am sure of, you can beat me in tithes and offering, but you will not beat me in expressing my thanks. Let’s go there: Father, I thank you for all your kindness, you are greater than the greatest, higher than the highest! Any one else?
