SHM Weekly Charge_2013 Week 05. 12 KEYS TO BE BETTER AT YOUR TASK IN 2013, PART 1.

Keys, 01Main Reading Texts: Proverbs 22 verse 29 & 26 verse 12.

My dear friends, the New Year is now in full work swing. All bets are off now, real grind in full motion. So, for the next four (4) weeks, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we would be sharing with ourselves how to be better this year in that job, business and academic pursuit. It is our fervent hope that you will not only be blessed, but will also share this life changing tips with your friends and family too. My heart-felt desire is that your level of success in whatever you do will multiply this year more than ever before IJMN.

(1) ANTICIPATE YOUR BUSINESS/ACADEMIC NEEDS. Read 2 Samuel 23 verses 13-16. Here, you will see three (3) mighty men among the army of David braving certain danger after they anticipated the need of their commander. Please note that these three belonged to the elite group of David’s army. They were not the rank and file. By anticipating the needs of your business and positioning yourself to meet them you will stand yourself out and get noticed my dear friends.

If you know that this year you will be taking an important professional examination that will add to your value, then would it not be better if you anticipated the amount of time you will need to study ahead of the syllabus or the time you will need to take leave of absence from work and begin to work towards it? Or if you know that your company will venture into new areas of business, would it not be wise to study up on this ahead of the pack? If you successfully master this key of anticipation, you will discover that not only are you relevant in the scheme of things, but you will have seen any obstacles that may lie ahead of you.

(2) GET TO KNOW YOUR COLLEAGUES (BOSS/SUBORDINATES) BETTER. Whichever way you choose to look at it, your colleagues can make or mar your productivity level. Research has shown that you do not have to be friends or best pals with your colleagues to get them to add value to what you need to do. However, you need to know what keeps them going. In 1 Samuel 22 verses 1-2, by getting close to his men who started out as society rejects, David was able to influence them to become mighty men of valour! Many years ago (1987-88 to be precise) when I was at the Law School my set had about 2000 law graduates from all over the country (then the Nigerian Law School had only one campus in Lagos), I formed friendships with a number of colleagues, but went out of my way to get to know a select group of them. Till date, that circle of friends still bless my work in ways that money cannot buy. Get to know your colleagues, my dear friend.

(3) DEVELOP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE OF SUCCESS DESPITE OBVIOUS CHALLENGES. Challenges will always come, in whatever field of endeavour you operate in. I am sure you will have heard the story of a miner in the old wild west of the United States who invested all he had in a lot he mined for gold for many months, without success. He eventually got frustrated and sold the lot to another person for the total value of his investment. The new owner then struck gold with the first few strikes of the digger! What a colossal failure the previous owner became!

My dear friends, let your facial expression, tone and words project your belief that this year will be a good one for you – a year of new beginnings. Scripture tells us that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Mt. 12 verse 34), so what you confess is really what your spirit man embraces. I charge you to see obstacles as potential stepping stones. What you see with your mind’s eye is what you will project with your external projectors – your eyes, mouth, arms and legs.

Next week we will go on to more Keys IJMN. Please do not just benefit from these keys, share them with your family and friends. If you have any questions and/or enquiries, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at salvationhouse@gmail.com.

God bless you. Have a wonderful week ahead. You are created to excel and excel you shall IJMN.
